AIM: To introduce the rudiments of umpiring a netball match at junior/youth/adult level in a club environment
OUTCOMES TO BE ACHIEVED ON THE COURSE:
* To have some knowledge of the basic rules of the game
* To identify obvious basic infringements of the rules
* To apply correct use of voice, whistle and terminology
* To be aware of correct movement and positioning
* To keep an accurate scorecard and call the score (when Table Officials not provided)
* To identify the requirements for the England Netball Beginner Award
* Prepare candidates for testing process
WHO CAN ATTEND: Young people from 12 years of age Adults who have had no experience of umpiring
DURATION OF THE COURSE: Total of 4 - 6 hours + refreshments breaks Delivered as 1 x 4/6 hours or 3x2 or 2x3 hour session
DOES THE COURSE HAVE AN ASSESSMENT: Candidates need to gain further practical experience on proper match play and then apply for formal assessment/testing
FACILITIES NEEDED: Indoor netball court with sufficient space and/or classroom type access + flipchart etc
RESOURCES NEEDED: Cost per candidate £7.00 which includes official rule book
