LIBRA DO IT FOR FUN, FAMILY, NETBALL AND CHARITY!!
Following on from the success of the men v women’s netball match last year for Sport Relief 2012, Libra Lea NC this year held a charity mixed netball tournament on Tuesday 19th March at Ellowes Hall Sports College, to raise money for this year’s Red Nose Day Comic Relief!!

Ten mixed teams (many of which were made up of family members) plus their supporters, battled it out in a fast paced, fun and competitive 2 hour tournament, with the top two teams from each group, Phoenix Red and ‘(not a) Chancers’ meeting in the final game of the evening. Phoenix finally came out winners 7 -4. Congratulations to both teams that made it through to the final!
Team Simmo won the coveted ‘best kitted out’ award of the evening, with their imaginative red ‘tie dye’ shirts made especially for the occasion!
With players taking part of all abilities, ages (the youngest competitors being just 14 and the oldest swinger gracing the courts at the tender age of 73!) and obviously sexes, everyone enjoyed a fun and exhausting evening of netball, kept going by the plentiful home baked cakes on sale!
Libra Lea would like to thank all their club members, supporters and all the teams that took part. A special thanks to Ellowes Hall Sports College for allowing us the use of the whole of their fabulous sports hall for the night, and to all the volunteers who officiated and umpired during the evening. We are extremely pleased and proud to confirm that we raised a whopping £502 for Comic Relief.
