The day started with all Midrange members combined with George Salter (venue) community staff working together to prepare the venue. Marquees, tables, chairs, tea making facilities, and enough stands for volunteers to promote netball and run raffles, were made available.
We also had a fantastic array of cakes, sweet desserts, sandwiches and refreshments available, donated by teams and members. A massive thank you must be given to the tournament referee Mike Wilkinson and the sound engineer for the day Chris Malloy whose help was invaluable. We had tremendous help from all areas of the netball community, from umpires and players, which shows the true family spirit of our wonderful sport.
The netball itself was phenomenal, as there were all standards of teams involved from back to netball to premier league. Everyone relished the opportunity to play against all standards, and more importantly everyone commented on what a fantastic day they had had. We split the tournament into two groups, CUP and PLATE. The Plate final was between a previous back to netball team Flames and Fusion, with Flames winning 6 -4. The CUP final, umpired by Ian Fuller and Chris Malloy, was between Ryland and Dudley Leisure 1, with Ryland being victorious 7 - 4. The player of the tournament was Stacey Cooper GK from Dudley Leisure.
